Chaos Fighting Tactics
Instructor
Sifu Gilbert Green
I began my martial arts training in 1980 as a young boy. I learned tae kwoon do at the local community center in Greenbelt MD. In 1984 I continued my training under Mr. Garvin in freestyle ninjutsu until 1989. In 1989 I moved to Panama City Florida were I began training in shotokan karate, shortly after moving to Florida I became homeless. While living on the streets with my mother my martial arts training was always put to the test both mentally and physically. I was in numerous fights dealing with various people in the shelters, the streets and the project housing where I lived.
My training at that time saved my life. I later relocated to Norfolk Va. While living in Va my troubles didn't end I was involved in more street fights. In 1992 the Gulf war had began and I came home to live in Washington DC with my dad. I went back into training under Mr. Garvin.
I began teaching kids from 1993- 1996 in Greenbelt MD and was part of the neighborhood watch program. While working with the watch program we managed to clean up the drug problem in our community and offered training to any young person who seeked direction.
I continued teaching and even began studying zen. I visited with and learning from various instructors and sparred with warriors from different fighting arts between 1993- 1996.
I continued teaching self defense to college students at the University of Maryland until 2000. In 2001, I moved to SE Washington DC and meet Mr. Aaron Smith, who was a student of Master Massie. Mr. Smith (aka 'Smitty') was a kuntao silat and bando master and the building manager of the apartment where I lived.
Mr. Smith introduced me to the destructive art kuntao silat fighting. I was a student of Aaron for 1-1/2 years. I continued to seek instruction in silat and found a great instructor and organization in Offensive Fighting tactics (OFT) Survival Solutions JKD concepts under Sifu John Lopez. I later became certified as a full instructor in Jeet Kune Do/ Kali/ Silat.
I continued my search for combat effective training methods. I cross train in boxing and jujitsu MMA to sharpen my skills. I have also had the privilege to train with Steve Braun, Uncle Bill and other great masters of JKD and silat. Currently, I conduct private and group tactical JKD self defense classes from my home and promote combat effective applications of silat/kali/JKD and any fighting art. I enjoy teaching and helping others learn to be safe.
